1. "The Hall Families.
Of the most prominent families in Sheet Harbour for more thana century
past are the descendants of William Hall. He came from Devon, England,
around 1815, a young man and single. He married Sarah Currie in November
1815 (see Acadian Recorder of Nov. 18, 1815), and later engaged in
shipbuilding and lumbering. Born in 1793, he died on September 16, 1866,
aged 73 years. From him come all the Halls living today in Sheet Harbour.
He was one of several persons who in 1820 acquired from John M. Greer a
portion of the Greer Grant and later a large block of the 10,000 acres.
The others wer Neil Curry, John Curry and "Lakehouse" John Hall. The
lands were later partitioned amongst them and their heirs. William's
children were William (Jr.), John, Archibald, Thomas (Sr.), Catherine
(Low), Jane (Archibald) and Ivy (Smith). [SH-1]
