1. John and Waty came to Antigonish about 1809, at which time he reported
to his people in Liverpool that there were five houses in the place
(Antigonish?). [DGW]
2. John Dexter and wife came to Antigonish, from Liverpool, NS, probably
in 1805, for in that year he received a deed of a tract of land from
Capt. Joseph Barrs, of Liverpool, NS, on which land he lived the
remainder of his life. His house was on the North side of Bay Street,
just East of where St. Martha's Hospital now stands. Mary Dexter, a
sister of his, married the Reverend William Payzant, son of the Reverend
John Payzant, of Falmouth, NS and she and her husband evidently lived in
Antigonish, NS, for a time, for their daughter Jane, who married Simeon
Kempton, of Milton, Queens COunty, NS, was born in Antigonish, January 2,
1815, and a point of land at or near where the wharf was at Lower
Landing, was called Payzant's Point. [HTA]
1. John Dexter (son of Isaac) was sometimes called Rev. Isaac because he preached, but he was not ordained. [DGW]

1. As a young man he went to California, but returned, and after being married settled down for life in Antigonish. [HTA]
